Authorities in Germany are searching for a "Cookie Monster" who was seen speeding along a roadway in the city of Dortmund. In a post on X, the Dortmund Police shared a photo of a driver who was wearing a Cookie Monster mask as they sped down the road at around 55 mph, which is about six miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

"Yeah, sure... it's totally funny to pull a Cookie Monster mask over your head, drive along the A45, and flash your camera," the department wrote.

In a follow-up post, officials noted that the mask can limit the driver's field of vision.

"Irony mode off: It's not funny to fail to see another road user at 91 km/h with a limited field of vision. It's not funny to cause a traffic accident like that. It's not funny to seriously injure or kill someone in the process," the police explained.

Officials said the driver is on the hook for a fine of 40 euros, which is the equivalent of around $43. They said the vehicle was registered to a 57-year-old man but have not determined who was driving at the time.
