Pennsylvania State Police are investigating two armed robbery attempts targeting Amish men in horse-drawn buggies in Lackawannock Township, Mercer County. The incidents occurred last week, with the first report coming in around 8:09 p.m. on Thursday (March 27) at the intersection of Number 8 Road and Speer Road. A small black sedan stopped in front of a buggy, and a suspect wearing dark clothing and a medical mask exited the vehicle. The suspect, holding a firearm, demanded the victim's wallet, which the victim handed over before the suspect fled in the sedan.
While investigating the first incident, police received a report of a similar encounter on Leesburg Station Road. In this case, the black sedan pulled alongside another buggy, and a man in the passenger seat, also described as a white male in dark clothing and a medical mask, allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded his wallet. The second victim did not comply, and the suspect vehicle fled without taking anything.
No injuries were reported in either incident, and the suspect's identity remains unknown. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Pennsylvania State Police in Mercer.
