In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a hairstylist at Draft Picks Barbershop gave an 11-year-old girl a drastic haircut after her mother refused to pay a $25 late fee. The incident occurred when the mother and daughter arrived 10 minutes late for their appointment. The stylist, whose identity remains undisclosed, charges a fee for clients arriving more than 10 minutes late.

The girl's grandmother, Conchota Singleton, told WBRZ that the stylist had previously canceled an April 14 appointment and rescheduled it for the following day. The mother had already paid for the entire service upfront. When the mother refused to pay the late fee, the stylist began cutting off the girl's braids, as captured by surveillance footage shared on Facebook.

The situation escalated as the pregnant mother attempted to protect her daughter's hair, leading to a tussle. Despite efforts to stop the stylist, she continued cutting, injuring the mother's hand in the process. Eventually, other patrons intervened, and the stylist released the girl, who then left with her mother.

The owner of Draft Picks Barbershop, TJ Malveaux, stated that the stylist no longer works there and emphasized that the salon does not condone such actions. Malveaux expressed apologies to the affected family and reiterated the salon's commitment to client safety and satisfaction.
