In Jamestown, California, the parents of a one-year-old child have been arrested after the child tested positive for fentanyl and THC. The incident began on April 22 when Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) deputies responded to a medical emergency involving the child, who had reportedly choked and temporarily stopped breathing near Dutch Mine Road. The child was revived at the scene and taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being released to the parents.
The following day, the child was brought back to the hospital after becoming unresponsive again. According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office, the child was administered CPR, resuscitated, and transferred to another hospital for treatment related to fentanyl poisoning after testing positive for fentanyl and THC.
Detectives launched an investigation, executing a search warrant at the family's motorhome, where they found drug paraphernalia and a used Narcan. The investigation revealed that one parent had administered Narcan during the emergency. The parents, 22-year-old Rory Kerr and 32-year-old Denaun Davis, were arrested and booked on felony child abuse charges, including abuse likely to cause great bodily injury or death.
The child is now in protective custody. TCSO emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention in suspected overdose cases, even if Narcan appears effective. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released.
