India has launched a military operation against Pakistan, targeting what it describes as "terrorist infrastructure" in both Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation, named Operation Sindoor, marks a significant escalation in tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

The Indian military stated that it conducted precision strikes on nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Jammu and Kashmir. These strikes come days after India accused Pakistan of involvement in a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, where gunmen killed at least 26 tourists and injured several others. The Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., emphasized that the strikes were "focused and precise," targeting only known terror camps.

In response, the Pakistani military reported that eight Pakistanis, including a 16-year-old girl, were killed, and 35 others were wounded. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attacks and vowed that Pakistan would respond forcefully.

"Pakistan has every right to respond forcefully to this act of war imposed by India," Sharif said.

International reactions have urged caution, with the United Nations Secretary-General's office calling for "maximum military restraint" from both countries. The situation remains tense, and further developments are anticipated.
